My sculpture is titled "Bug" and it is 9.5" tall and 8" wide. The following are the items I used in this sculpture:

1. Metal pen holder (body)

2. Forks (legs)

3. Egg beaters (wings)

4. Handles to pan lids (eyes)

The first thing that came into my mind when I read the directions for the assignment was a bug. At first I wanted to do a bumblebee but it ended up looking like a fly. I was going to use my old flower pot but then I found this pen holder that I hadn't been using and it seemed to fit perfectly!

My difficulty in this assignment was not lack of inspiration (surprisingly, since I am not artistic) but finding the right material that would hold the pieces together. The eyes were easy - I just used the screws from the lids and stuck them through the mesh. But trying to find a substance that would hold metal together was hard! At first I tried a soldering iron and that did nothing but melt the pieces. I then tried the grey epoxy glue and that was  too thick and sticky. Finally I tried the clear epoxy and that did the trick!

I had a lot of fun creating this and it just seemed to come together for me as far as the idea. It turned out just as I anticipated. If I could have done anything differently I would have added more detail to it. However, I feel I lack the artistic ability, and therefore I am content with how it turned out!
