What I learned from Study of Disabilities is that many words that people use every day to describe people with disabilities, like "retarded," "slow," "special," and even "handicapped," are highly offensive to people with disabilities. Another important thing that I learned is that people with disabilities don't want to be pitied, which is a very challenging thing for many people not to do. Many people just want to help and in doing so can greatly offend these people.
